Thank you to the Jones Day Foundation for its generous grant of $100,000. In October, the Jones Day Foundation awarded the Young Center with a $100,000 grant to go toward assisting children in the U.S. immigration court system. This grant could not have come at a more critical time. Right now, an unprecedented 400 children are arriving at the border every day, more than ever before. Most of the children are coming from Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador, countries suffering epidemics of cartel violence, government corruption, political instability, and extreme poverty. Luckily, over the past three months, the Young Center opened offices and began serving as Child Advocate for children in Phoenix, San Antonio and Los Angeles – cities where Child Advocates are desperately needed to support the best interests of these unaccompanied children. These offices join our teams in Chicago, Washington, D.C., New York and border town, Harlingen, Texas, in standing for the rights of these children. The generous grant from the Jones Day Foundation will go toward serving children in each of these locations. From the Board and staff of the Young Center, a sincere thank you to the Jones Day Foundation.
