Maria Woltjen Speaking at University of Chicago’s 125th Anniversary Celebration on October 21st, Pioneers of the New Social Frontier, at the Chicago History Museum

In recognition of the University’s 125th anniversary, SSA presents an event centered on the Abbott sisters: Grace and Edith Abbott, two of the most important figures in American social welfare practice and education. Grace Abbott was the founder of the U.S. Children’s Bureau and Edith Abbott, was an economist, social work scholar, and the first dean of SSA. The event will highlight the historic, current, and future impact on immigrant families and children and for women in leadership in the social service professions.
