Five Ways You Can Support the Young Center’s 2020 Giving Tuesday Campaign

Giving Tuesday, celebrated on December 1 this year, is a global day of giving and solidary, a day for people around the world to donate to and raise awareness about the causes and nonprofits they care about. At the Young Center, Giving Tuesday is essential for us reaching our fundraising goals for the year. This year, we hope to raise $100,000 to support our work with unaccompanied and separated immigrant children facing deportation. Here are ways you can help us achieve this goal.

  1. You can donate to our campaign here. Donations are tax-deductible and matched, up to $25,000. Also, this year only, as part of the CARES ACT, you can take a tax deduction of up to $300 for donations, even if you take the standard deduction. Your donation means we will be able to serve more children escaping violence and persecution and no amount is too small.

  2. You can set up a fundraising page on Facebook or using the Young Center’s tool, JustGiving. Make sure to set a goal for #GivingTuesday and share with your friends to let them know you’re raising money. Here are some suggested campaign titles: “Support Immigrant Children This Given Tuesday,” “Giving Tuesday Fundraiser to Support Immigrant Children,” “Join Me and Support Immigrant Children this Giving Tuesday.”

  3. You can uplift our Giving Tuesday campaign on social media. Follow us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn and share our posts about Giving Tuesday. When you share a post, include commentary about why supporting immigrant children is important to you. That can inspire others. If you want to do a little bit more on social media, send our Development Coordinator Maddie Witters an email [mwitters@theyoungcenter.org] and she will share a toolkit you can use to promote our campaign.

  4. Talk to a friend about the Young Center and why we must all care about immigrant children and their rights and safety.

  5. Sign up for our newsletter. Next week, we’ll be sending emails updating our supporters about our Giving Tuesday campaign, sharing stories of the children we’ve served, and providing information about the current issues facing immigrant children. Stay in the loop and if you feel moved by an email, forward it to a friend.
