Privacy Policy

Protecting your privacy is extremely important to us. We want you to be comfortable contacting us and using our services. This Privacy Policy governs the manner in which the Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights collects, uses, maintains and discloses information collected from users of our website.

The Types of Information the Young Center Collects

Non-personally identifiable device/usage information:

The Young Center automatically collects non-personally identifiable information about you whenever you visit the Website. Non-personally identifiable information is information that, on its own, cannot be used to identify you. Such information may include your Internet Protocol (IP) address (a number that is automatically assigned by your internet service provider to the computer you used), the type of browser and operating system you used, the date and time you visited the Website, the Internet address of the site from which you linked to the Website, and which pages you viewed on the Website. We use this information for several purposes, such as calculating usage levels, helping diagnose server problems, and administering the Website.

We may also use tracking pixels (also called web beacons), which are tiny electronic tags with a unique identifier that provide usage information, such as impressions and clicks, to measure the success of our marketing campaigns and to compile statistics about use of the Website and response rates. The Young Center uses Google Analytics to gather web analytical data for us. Information about how Google uses information collected from sites that use its services is located at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. You may opt out of participating with Google Analytics by downloading the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, available at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout

Personally identifiable information:

The Young Center collects personally identifiable information — data that can be used to uniquely identify you – when you voluntarily provide such information. For example, you may provide us with your name, email address, cell phone number and/or credit card information, when you sign up to join our email or text message lists or when you make a donation online.

To review the personally identifiable information we have about you and to request corrections, send an email to info@theyoungcenter.org with the subject line PRIVACY.

How the Young Center Uses the Information that It Collects

The Young Center uses Users’ personal information for the purpose for which it was provided, in other words, to add you to our email or text message lists or to process a donation. We also use this information to better understand how Users use the Website so that we can improve the Website. Furthermore, we may use Users’ personal information to customize content and communications based on individual interests, previous interactions and location.

If you provide the Young Center with your email address, you will be added to our email list and you will start receiving email communications from us, unless you opt out. If at any time you wish to stop receiving emails from us, please follow the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email we send you.

If you provide us with your phone number, you consent to receiving phone calls and text messages from the Young Center. If you wish to be removed from our phone list, reply STOP to any text message from the Young Center. We will then send you a message confirming that you have been removed from our text list. Please do not reply to that message, as it may result in your being re-subscribed.

How the Young Center Protects User Information

The Young Center adopts appropriate data collection, storage and processing practices and security measures to help protect against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure or destruction of your personal information, but no data transmission or storage system is guaranteed to be 100% secure.

Sharing Personal Information

The Young Center will not disclose your personal information to any third parties absent your explicit consent, except as provided below.

The Young center uses third party service providers to help it operate the Website and to administer activities on its behalf, such as collecting donations online. These third party vendors have access to some User information but they are required to protect the confidentiality of the information and to use it only for the limited purpose for which it was provided.

We often provide opportunities for Users to sign petitions. We may share some Users’ personal information with applicable public officials related to the petitions.

The Young Center will use best efforts to avoid having to share any of your personal information if ordered to do so by a court order, subpoena or search warrant, or if otherwise required to do so by law, but the Young Center makes no guarantee that its efforts to resist disclosure will be successful. If we ever determine that we need to disclose any of your personally identifiable information to the government, we will use best efforts to notify you in advance.

The Young Center may also share personally identifiable information if it believes it is necessary to protect the rights, property, and safety of the Young Center or others.

The Young Center may share personally identifiable information in connection with, or during negotiations of, any merger, sale of company assets, financing or acquisition of all or a portion of its business to another organization.

The Young Center may share generic aggregated information not linked to any personally identifiable information regarding Users with third parties.
