June 1: National Day of Action for Children
We continue to hear from people who are outraged by the U.S. government's policy to take children away from their mothers and fathers at the border. The Young Center provides Child Advocates to children separated from their parents every day. We see firsthand how terrified these kids are, and we fight tooth and nail to get them back to their parents, where they belong, where they are safe.
We've received an outpouring of support and interest, and many have asked, "How can we help?" Here's how you can help right now:
Join today's National Day of Action for Children
- Call your U.S. Senators and Representatives to tell them: "Congress must hold the Department of Homeland Security and Department of Justice accountable. Tell DHS to stop separating immigrant families. Tell DOJ to rescind the new policy that prosecutes all parents crossing the border. Seeking asylum is a human right. The U.S. must stop treating it like a crime."
- Attend an action near you. There are events happening across the country this week. If there's nothing nearby, you can host your own event.
- Sign the Families Belong Together petition. Join more than 25,000 people in demanding that the Administration stop separating immigrant children from their families.
This inhumane practice is the government's "new normal"—with hundreds of children taken from their families every week. It’s time to make another push. Join us in the fight to end family separation, for real and meaningful change for these children and their parents.
